Although I’m back in blighty I will continue to update this blog with my recent exploits. Watch this space peeps.
After returning to our guesthouse we packed into a tiny minibus and headed for the outskirts and Suvarnabhumi airport. It was like a real life version of Mario cart. Our driver zoomed down the freeway dodging cars and serving around the lanes. I was just waiting for it to spin out on a well place banana skin.
We were deposited outside the terminal ready for our final leg of the journey. With our bags on the luggage trolley it finally felt like it was home time. I felt content and happy that we had done our travels justice. So many unique and worthwhile experiences. I have grown as a person, visited some beautiful places, got to know some fascinating people, some of which have turned into friends and had a truly once in a life time experience.
Thank you everyone who made it the best year of my life, especially Becky.
Becky and I awoke to the last day of our round the world trip. It was sad that it was coming to an end but still, 12 hours to kill in Bangkok wasn’t the end of the world. We did what any self respecting westerner would do with their left over Baht and went shopping.
The Thai shopping malls are a funny thing. They have got the basic idea of a westernised shopping mall with well presented shops, lots of floors and the odd food outlet but added the crazy Asian stuff on top. There are small stalls selling counterfeit clothing and knock off goods all over the place. Trying to find something that fits the western statue and fashion was a bit harder than it sounds and I came away with few items than I wanted. Either way it was a new experience and an alright way to spend our last day in the east.
